HEADWINDS FOR REPUBLICANS


DEMOGRAPHICS IN OUR FAVOR (1) The non-college White share of the total vote, a GOP core constituency, is in slow decline while non-White groups, and Whites with a college degree, are increasing. DEMOGRAPHICS IN OUR FAVOR (2) Gen Z is becoming the largest voting bloc, and while Idaho has forbid voting with student ID’s, and Texas now forbids polling booths on campus, and Di Santis is considering a similar bill, Gen Z is showing up. They don’t like it when politicians make it harder for them to vote. They want gun control and reproductive freedoms for starters. They are participating and we are already seeing the outcomes. CITIZEN BALLOT INITIATIVES IN MISSOURI WERE NOT STOPPED, a surprise outcome, springing from divisions within the Republican Super Majority, and a defeat for the hard right. Ballot initiatives that have passed in the state include Medicaid expansion, minimum wage increases, and ethics and campaign finance overhaul. On deck next are reproductive rights, likely to pass with voters, overriding conservative lawmakers.

A PENNSYLVANIA STOP-THE-STEAL JUDGE LOST her primary. She’s proud of her support for Trump and if she’d won, she would have had a seat on the swing state’s high court and heard cases touching on the 2024 election. Read about this here.
