    DOG DAYS—DONE!

The Democratic Convention was fabulous. Those midsummer days that aligned with the daybreak appearance of Sirius, the Dog Star? To which ancient Greek and Romans ascribed to bad luck and unrest, where dogs and men were believed driven mad by the heat? Those days are over. Dogs (and Democrats) are feeling good, and ready for anything!

For four nights in Chicago, every speaker brought it. Great speeches were given, one after the other—from a deep bench of Democratic talent, patriotic Republicans, and everyday folk. The must-sees are too many to list here. Zingers galore. Moving. Funny. Inspired. Principled. We took back the flag from Republicans, our pride in the red, white, and blue, and reclaimed the word “freedom.” Here’s a recap of only a few of the memorable moments: CBS

The DNC Convention ratings upstaged the RNC, viewership averaging 14% more. Here’s a breakdown: The Hollywood Reporter

Polls are trending upwards. Nate Silver predicts they’ll keep rising for Harris (for a while at least). Newsweek.

The balloon drop after Kamala’s speech was colossal, 100,000 of them, falling and falling and falling. PBS

We begin the race to the end!  For years, Paul Spector has been coming up with weekly favorable progress reports to keep the FridayAction Zoom Group from being disheartened. From that messaging, The Good News was born. But now, now we are jazzed. Our side is out of the shadows and into the limelight. And it’s time to go to work.

Join us for Zooms to find out what you can do.  Keep checking back with FridayAction.org or your favorite group to see what’s up. Only weeks left, folks! It’s time to throw all we’ve got into winning this election.

    AND FINALLY

The Election Countdown Clock is ticking.

Diana and Karl, our tiny Good News team, along with FridayAction.org and Democrats across the nation, will be devoting all we’ve got to getting out the vote, postcards and phone banking, canvassing and fund-raising where it’s critical. So. The Good News is going on hiatus as of the end of August. We’ll be back if the need arises.

“Don’t just sit around and complain. Do something.”
